Job Summary:
The Gender and GBV Officer will lead the design, implementation, and monitoring of gender and GBV interventions under the ARISE project. The role focuses on promoting gender equality, transforming social norms, strengthening GBV prevention and response systems, and supporting women, survivors, and marginalized groups.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Gender Equality & Social Norms Transformation (35%)
- Implement Social Analysis and Action (SAA) methodology.
- Facilitate community dialogues with leaders, parents, and VESAs.
- Engage men and boys through the EMB approach to challenge harmful masculinities.
- Promote positive parenting and adolescent girls’ empowerment.
- Mainstream gender and disability inclusion across project activities.
2. GBV Prevention & Response (30%)
- Provide technical leadership on GBV prevention and survivor-centered care.
- Train service providers (health, legal, police, OSCs) on case management and referrals.
- Deliver trainings based on WHO LIVES protocol and CMR guidelines.
- Strengthen GBV referral mechanisms for safe, confidential survivor support.
- Build capacity of government and civil society partners on GBV.
3. Psychosocial Support & MHPSS (15%)
- Strengthen mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) interventions.
- Facilitate Psychological First Aid (PFA) and safe referral trainings.
- Support trauma healing initiatives linking traditional and modern practices.
4. Coordination, Monitoring & Reporting (10%)
- Work with MEAL team to design gender and GBV indicators.
- Document activities, case management, and capacity-building outputs.
- Contribute to donor reports, case studies, and lessons learned.
- Represent the project in GBV, Protection Cluster, and gender forums.
5. Other Duties (5%)
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding and protection standards.
- Contribute to advocacy and project visibility.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Gender Studies, Social Work, Psychology, Public Health, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Experience: 4–5 years in GBV prevention, gender equality, or protection programming; experience with community dialogues, capacity-building, MHPSS, and working with vulnerable women and girls.
- Skills: Technical knowledge of gender-transformative and survivor-centered approaches, facilitation, coaching, coordination, advocacy, and strong communication (Amharic & English).
