Overall Purpose of the Role
Under the direct guidance and supervision of the ER team leader, the Protection Officer – GBV CM is responsible for ensuring the quality, effectiveness, and technical soundness of GBV case management services provided by caseworkers. The officer strengthens the technical capacity of the case management team, ensures proper documentation and adherence to standards, and promotes staff well-being and professional development.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
Provide ongoing technical guidance and mentorship to GBV caseworkers, ensuring adherence to GBV case management principles, the Inter-Agency GBV Case Management Guidelines, and survivor-centered approaches. Promote staff well-being by creating a supportive environment and facilitating regular debriefings and reflective practices. Conduct weekly individual supervision sessions with each GBV caseworker to review case progress, discuss challenges, and provide technical feedback. Facilitate bi-weekly case management team meetings for peer learning, case conferencing, and team cohesion. Perform bi-weekly reviews of case files to ensure quality, accuracy, and confidentiality. Conduct regular capacity assessments of caseworkers, identify strengths and gaps, and develop targeted action plans to address learning needs. Develop monthly supervision plans in collaboration with caseworkers. Monitor data entry quality and consistency, ensuring accurate reporting and data protection. Provide direct supervision and mentoring to staff to enhance technical competencies. Identify training needs and develop capacity-building plans for staff and volunteers. Deliver training sessions, coaching, and on-the-job support on GBV principles, case management, psychosocial support, referral pathways, and documentation. Provide direct case management support for complex, high-risk, or sensitive cases. Ensure all interventions uphold the safety, dignity, and confidentiality of survivors. Undertake other protection-related tasks as assigned, including assessments, coordination, reporting, or community-based protection activities.

Experience and Technical Competencies
Proven experience in providing technical guidance and mentorship in GBV case management. Knowledge of Inter-Agency GBV Case Management Guidelines and survivor-centered approaches. Strong skills in supervision, staff mentoring, team management, and capacity building. Ability to provide direct support for complex or sensitive cases. Experience in promoting staff well-being and reflective practices. Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.

Education
University degree in Social Work, Social Science, Law, or other relevant fields from a recognized institution.

Language Requirements
Proficient in English. Proficiency in Afaan Oromo and Somali is required.
