🎯 Job Purpose
The Logistics Officer (Pipeline & Planning) will coordinate WFP Ethiopia’s upstream and downstream supply chain operations to ensure efficient food assistance delivery. Reporting to the Head of Operations, the officer will lead pipeline planning, manage logistics data and forecasting, and collaborate with key internal and external partners to optimize WFP’s logistics performance.
⚙️ Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate daily activities of the Pipeline section and supervise team members.
- Plan and manage the supply chain pipeline, ensuring accurate analysis of food requirements for all programmes.
- Develop and implement logistics procedures aligned with corporate strategies.
- Oversee timely food transfers, dispatches, and replenishment from ports and hubs.
- Coordinate with customs and transport units for smooth cargo clearance and delivery.
- Conduct data analysis and produce accurate logistics and pipeline reports.
- Manage relationships with partners, including UN agencies, NGOs, government entities, and the private sector.
- Forecast operational needs and propose strategies to improve logistics efficiency.
- Perform regular financial analysis and optimize fund utilization.
- Represent WFP Logistics in interagency coordination meetings and stakeholder engagements.
🎓 Required Qualifications
Education:
- Advanced University Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transport Economics, Business Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- First University Degree with additional relevant experience will be accepted.
Experience:
- Minimum 1 year of relevant professional experience in supply chain planning or logistics operations.
- Experience with S&OP (Sales and Operations Planning) tools and interagency coordination is desirable.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, dashboards) required.
- Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and team leadership skills.
Language:
- Fluency in English (Level C) – both written and spoken.
- Knowledge of additional local languages is an asset.
