The Australian Embassy in Ethiopia is seeking a highly experienced and motivated professional for the position of Property and Security Manager. This role is responsible for managing the Embassy’s property portfolio and security operations while ensuring compliance with departmental standards and local regulations.

Reports to: Senior Administrative Officer (SAO) and Post Security Officer (PSO)
About the Role:
The Property and Security Manager oversees Embassy properties and ensures the safety and security of staff, facilities, and assets. The role requires a proactive leader with strong negotiation, communication, and management skills, capable of working with autonomy and sound judgment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic advice on property, procurement, and security matters.
- Manage property and security contracts, tenders, and procurement processes.
- Negotiate rental agreements and maintain positive relationships with landlords.
- Oversee maintenance, health, and safety compliance of Embassy and residential properties.
- Lead and supervise a small team, providing feedback and development opportunities.
- Maintain property records and manage asset and lease databases.
- Implement facility management programs, including preventive maintenance.
- Manage contracted guard services, security access, and event-related arrangements.
- Monitor and report on local security conditions and support crisis planning.
- Oversee security and property budgets, expenditure tracking, and compliance reporting.
- Conduct regular safety drills and maintain Work Health and Safety (WHS) documentation.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in property management, maintenance, and lease administration.
- Proven experience managing security operations in an embassy or large organization.
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder relationship skills.
- Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; knowledge of SAP is desirable.
- Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and time management abilities.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under limited supervision.
