About the Organization

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is an independent, humanitarian, non-profit, non-governmental organization that has been at the forefront of protecting and assisting people forced to flee since its establishment in 1946. Operating in around 31 countries with a dedicated workforce of approximately 14,000 staff members, NRC implements a rights-based approach to humanitarian aid. We actively challenge those in positions of responsibility to uphold the rights of displaced populations in full alignment with national and international laws. By maintaining a presence where needs are greatest, NRC secures the acceptance of local stakeholders and delivers high-quality aid to millions of people navigating the world's most complex and volatile crises.

At the core of our global mission are the fundamental humanitarian principles of humanity, neutrality, independence, and impartiality. NRC Geneva plays a pivotal role in leading our global representation with the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) and various United Nations agencies, while also coordinating crucial donor engagement to sustain field operations. Through strategic initiatives and the work of the Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre (IDMC), NRC seeks to engage with all relevant actors. This engagement promotes full respect for the rights of vulnerable groups, secures immediate humanitarian access, and fosters long-term, durable solutions for displaced communities worldwide.

A career with NRC means joining a collaborative, supportive culture built on open dialogue, accountability, and continuous professional growth. We give significant responsibility to employees at all levels, fostering innovative teams that are capable of tackling dangerous challenges with safety and dignity. Safeguarding is central to everything we do, and every staff member is expected to contribute actively to a safe environment. NRC enforces a strict zero-tolerance approach to exploitation, abuse, and sexual harassment, ensuring that our workplaces and program sites remain safe for everyone.

Diversity, equity, and inclusion are foundational pillars of our operational success and organizational culture. We firmly believe that a workforce reflecting a wide variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences strengthens our humanitarian impact and allows us to serve communities more effectively. NRC is deeply committed to creating an equitable environment where every employee feels valued, respected, and empowered to contribute to our global mission.

We highly encourage women, persons with disabilities, and individuals from underrepresented groups to apply for these positions. NRC actively strives to eliminate barriers to employment and provides equal opportunities for professional advancement within our country programs. By bringing your unique skills and dedication to our teams in Ethiopia, you will play a vital role in building a diverse workforce that saves lives and rebuilds futures.

Job Description and Strategic Impact

The available positions within NRC Ethiopia are strategically essential for achieving high-quality program delivery, sustainable localization, and direct legal, social, and logistical assistance. The Partnership Coordinator bridges the gap between international humanitarian standards and local civil society capacity, maximizing the reach and impact of NRC’s country strategy. Simultaneously, the ICLA Social Support roles serve as the critical direct link between displaced populations and legal protections, driving community empowerment at the grassroots level in refugee camps and internally displaced person (IDP) sites.

The newly added Driver position provides the vital logistical backbone necessary to keep field operations moving safely and efficiently. Drivers ensure that frontline humanitarian workers, specialized equipment, and critical aid cargo reach vulnerable communities navigating complex and volatile territories. Without this essential mobility, field deployments and community outreach operations cannot achieve the timely and secure execution required to fulfill NRC's life-saving mission.

For professionals stepping into these roles, NRC offers an exceptional pathway for career development and systemic impact. Employees gain hands-on experience navigating complex donor compliances, local government relations, field logistics, and multi-sectoral humanitarian responses. The day-to-day responsibilities are designed to cultivate advanced project management, communication, and leadership skills, preparing individuals for progressive career trajectories within the international humanitarian sector.

The work environment emphasizes learning, mentorship, and practical capacity sharing. Coordinators, assistants, and logistics personnel alike participate in structured training, workshops, and inter-departmental collaborations that broaden their operational knowledge. By transforming raw strategy into real-world protection and secure transport, selected candidates will see the immediate, tangible outcomes of their efforts on the well-being of refugees and host communities.
