About the Organization

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, operating in more than 40 countries to provide rights-based, holistic assistance to displaced populations. Founded in 1956, DRC works across the entire spectrum of displacement, from emergency aid and protection to long-term durable solutions and community resilience. The organization is driven by a mission to help refugees, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and host communities lead dignified lives, free from fear and exploitation.

DRC’s culture is anchored in five core competencies: striving for excellence, collaborating, taking the lead, communicating, and demonstrating integrity. This professional environment fosters innovation and ownership, encouraging staff to reach results through efficient and ethical processes. As a global leader in the humanitarian sector, DRC provides an exceptional platform for professional growth, offering exposure to complex crisis management and specialized technical training in Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Protection Case Management (PCM).

The organization is deeply committed to Gender Equality and Social Inclusion. DRC actively works to bridge the gender gap at all staffing levels and provides an inclusive environment based on mutual respect. By joining DRC, professionals become part of a dedicated team that values diversity and does not discriminate on the basis of protected characteristics. The work at DRC is a commitment to upholding the highest standards of professional conduct and safeguarding the rights of the most vulnerable survivors.

Staff development is a priority at DRC, where mentoring and technical guidance are part of the daily workflow. The organization recognizes its employees as its primary drivers of success, offering rewarding work in fast-paced emergency environments like the Humera Field Office. Career advancement is supported by a global network of expertise, ensuring that staff are well-versed in survivor-centered approaches and the prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA).

In alignment with our values, women candidates are particularly encouraged to apply to help us achieve gender parity. We are dedicated to creating a workspace where talented individuals can make a meaningful, lasting contribution to the safety and recovery of displaced people in Ethiopia. DRC considers all applicants based on merit and promotes a culture of accountability to both staff and the communities we serve.

Job Description and Strategic Impact

The Protection Officer - GBV & Protection Case Management Supervisor is a critical technical role responsible for ensuring the quality, effectiveness, and technical soundness of GBV case management services. Under the supervision of the Emergency Response Manager, you will lead a team of caseworkers to ensure that survivors receive compassionate, professional, and confidential care. This role is fundamental to maintaining the "survivor-centered" standard that defines DRC’s humanitarian response in conflict-affected areas.

The strategic impact of this position lies in your ability to strengthen the technical capacity of the frontline team. By conducting individual supervision sessions, reviewing case files for accuracy, and monitoring data entry into Information Management (IM) systems, you ensure that every intervention adheres to Inter-Agency GBV Case Management Guidelines. Your oversight directly impacts the safety and dignity of survivors, ensuring that referral pathways are functional and that high-risk cases receive the advanced intervention they require.

For the professional, this role offers a "day-in-the-life" experience that balances administrative oversight with deep technical mentorship. You will develop monthly supervision plans, facilitate bi-weekly team meetings for peer learning, and create a supportive environment that prioritizes staff well-being and reflective practice. This position provides a significant platform for career growth, positioning you as a technical expert in protection within an international humanitarian framework.

The Case Management Supervisor also plays a vital role in data protection and reporting. By compiling weekly and monthly reports and maintaining the case management database, you provide the evidence base needed to improve program effectiveness and donor transparency. This role is essential for identifying gaps in current services and developing targeted action plans to address the performance and learning needs of staff and volunteers.

Ultimately, your leadership will ensure that survivors of GBV and individuals with protection needs are supported through high-quality psychosocial support and legal referrals. By delivering training and coaching to the field team, you build a sustainable local capacity to respond to protection concerns. This position is a unique opportunity to lead transformative, life-saving interventions in a challenging emergency context.
