About the Organization

Women Empowerment-Action (WE-Action) is a distinguished indigenous, non-political, and non-profit civil society organization that has been at the forefront of humanitarian and development work in Ethiopia for over 30 years. As a feminist women’s rights organization, WE-Action is dedicated to the social, economic, and physical advancement of women and the broader community. Our extensive operations across regions like Amhara, Oromia, Southern Ethiopia, Central Ethiopia, and Tigray reflect a deep-seated commitment to dismantling gender inequality and fostering sustainable growth at the grassroots level.

The mission of WE-Action is anchored in four strategic pillars: combating gender inequality, promoting gender-equitable livelihoods, ensuring protection and lifesaving support, and achieving organizational excellence. We believe that empowering women is the most effective way to improve the well-being of the entire community. Our legacy is defined by three decades of transformative impact, where we have successfully turned policy commitments into actionable change for thousands of marginalized individuals.

At WE-Action, we pride ourselves on a culture of excellence, integrity, and feminist leadership. We provide a dynamic workplace where professional growth is encouraged and where every staff member is a stakeholder in our mission. Our team consists of dedicated individuals who are committed to high ethical standards and the pursuit of social justice. Joining our organization means becoming part of a community that values your expertise and provides the platform to lead significant social shifts.

Safeguarding is the bedrock of our operations. WE-Action maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy regarding sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment (SEAH) and all forms of gender-based violence. We are committed to creating a safe environment for both our employees and the participants in our programs. This commitment ensures that our humanitarian and development interventions are conducted with the highest level of respect for human dignity and safety.

Diversity and inclusion are central to our recruitment philosophy. We recognize that our organizational success depends on a workforce that reflects the diverse communities we serve. Female applicants are highly encouraged to apply, as we strive to maintain a gender-balanced leadership team that reflects our organizational values. By joining WE-Action, you contribute to a legacy of empowerment and an equitable future where every woman and child can thrive in a safe and supportive environment.

Job Description and Strategic Impact

The recruitment for these four pivotal roles—Project Coordinator, GBV Response Officer, GBV Case Management Expert, and Child Protection Case Management Expert—is a strategic move to bolster our Dasenech Field Office. Each position plays a vital role in ensuring that Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) are operational realities rather than just theoretical concepts. These professionals are the primary drivers behind turning our gender equality commitments into transformative actions that impact the community directly.

In these roles, your "day-in-the-life" will involve a mix of strategic planning, advocacy, and direct survivor-centered care. Whether you are mainstreaming GESI across projects or providing specialized psychosocial support to survivors of violence, your work is essential for building community resilience. These positions ensure that the most vulnerable members of society—women and children—have access to safe, confidential, and timely services that meet their needs and restore their dignity.

The impact of these roles is both immediate and generational. By developing GESI-specific indicators, strengthening referral networks, and implementing resilience-building activities, you provide the evidence and infrastructure needed to refine our humanitarian strategies. Your work doesn't just address current crises; it builds the protective mechanisms necessary to prevent future harm and promotes a culture of safety and equity.

Career development is a priority at WE-Action. We offer a specialized environment where you can deepen your expertise in economic empowerment, human rights advocacy, and complex case management. You will have the opportunity to represent the organization in high-level humanitarian clusters and collaborate with international partners. This professional journey is designed to prepare you for senior leadership roles within the global NGO sector.

By joining our team, you become a guardian of our values. You will lead advocacy efforts, document lessons learned, and build relationships with stakeholders that sustain our life-saving work. Your ability to innovate and solve complex social problems will ensure that WE-Action remains a leader in the feminist movement in Ethiopia. We invite you to bring your passion and expertise to a career that truly saves lives and transforms society.
