Job Description and Strategic Impact

This consultancy is a critical strategic component of the RAYEE II program, aimed at bridging the profound gap between economic opportunity and social participation for Rural Young Women (RYW). The selected consultant will be responsible for conducting evidence-based formative research to pinpoint the behavioral, social, and cultural drivers that dictate how young women and persons with disabilities engage with agribusiness. This research is the foundation upon which a more inclusive economic landscape in Ethiopia will be built.

The impact of this role is transformative. By designing a comprehensive, multi-level Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) Strategy, you will help dismantle the systemic barriers that prevent marginalized youth from entering the workforce. Your work will promote positive social norms and create an enabling environment that supports agri-preneurship and financial inclusion across seven target regions, directly influencing the life trajectories of thousands of young Ethiopians.

Professional growth in this consultancy involves leading high-level behavioral analysis and social norms exploration. You will have the opportunity to apply cutting-edge qualitative research methodologies and journey mapping to a large-scale development project. This assignment places you at the forefront of Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) programming, providing a platform to showcase how data-driven communication can result in measurable social and economic change.

Beyond the immediate project goals, this consultancy strengthens the capacity of local markets and employers. By developing employer behavior change interventions and community engagement approaches, you are fostering a more receptive and equitable job market. Your insights will inform how SNV and its partners communicate mission-critical messages, ensuring that development efforts are culturally resonant and behaviorally effective.

Ultimately, your contribution will empower rural young women and disadvantaged youth to actively participate in and benefit from employment and skills development. This is a unique opportunity to lead a specialized team of experts in sociology, communications, and graphics design to deliver a strategy that balances high-level academic rigor with practical, field-level application.
