About the Organization

FHI 360 is a premier nonprofit human development organization that has dedicated decades to improving lives in lasting ways by advancing integrated, locally driven solutions. Our staff includes global experts in health, public health threats, education, nutrition, environment, economic development, civil society, gender, youth, research, technology, communication, and social marketing. This unique mix of capabilities allows us to address today’s most interrelated development challenges across more than 70 countries, including a robust and impactful presence in Ethiopia.

The organization operates on the core belief that we can only achieve a more equitable world when we address the complex, interconnected needs of individuals and communities. Our mission is to provide the highest quality technical assistance and program implementation, ensuring that the marginalized are reached and the vulnerable are protected. By fostering innovation and local ownership, FHI 360 creates systems that continue to thrive long after a project has concluded.

Our legacy in Ethiopia is built on a foundation of deep partnership with the Federal Ministry of Health, the Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI), and various Regional Health Bureaus. We are currently spearheading the STRengthening Infectious Disease DEtection Systems (STRIDES) project, a critical initiative focused on enhancing surveillance, laboratory capacity, and cold chain logistics to protect the nation from polio and other emerging infectious threats.

At FHI 360, we foster a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion, recognizing that our greatest strength lies in the unique perspectives of our global team. We prioritize professional growth and personal well-being, offering a workplace where employees are encouraged to innovate, lead, and grow within their careers while making a tangible difference in the lives of millions.

FHI 360 is deeply committed to gender equality and social inclusion. We believe that diverse teams are more innovative and effective; therefore, we explicitly encourage women, persons with disabilities, and individuals from underrepresented groups to apply for these positions. Our recruitment process is designed to be inclusive, ensuring that all qualified applicants receive equal consideration.

Job Description and Strategic Impact

The roles currently available within the STRIDES project are of paramount strategic importance to the future of public health in Ethiopia. Each position—from accounting and logistics to data analysis—serves as a vital link in the chain of infectious disease detection. By filling these roles, the organization aims to solidify a resilient health infrastructure capable of responding to outbreaks with speed and precision.

A "day-in-the-life" at FHI 360 involves high-level collaboration with international experts and government stakeholders. Employees are not merely performing tasks; they are architects of a safer future. Whether you are ensuring the financial integrity of a multi-million dollar grant or maintaining the cold chain for life-saving environmental samples, your work has a direct impact on the eradication of polio and the prevention of infectious diseases.

Career development is a cornerstone of our employment philosophy. Staff members are provided with opportunities for technical training, mentorship, and exposure to international standards and advanced digital platforms. We believe in promoting from within and providing our team with the tools necessary to become leaders in the global health and development sector.

The strategic impact of these positions extends beyond the immediate project goals. By working within national systems, such as the EPHI, our staff helps build sustainable local capacity. This "seconded" approach ensures that the skills and systems developed today will continue to serve the Ethiopian people for generations to come.

Joining this project means stepping into a fast-paced, mission-driven environment where every challenge is met with an evidence-based solution. You will be part of a team that values data, transparency, and operational excellence, ensuring that the STRIDES project remains a gold standard for infectious disease surveillance globally.
