UN Women, the United Nations entity for gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls, is grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations. The organization works globally for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls, the empowerment of women, and the achievement of parity between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action, and peace and security.

In Ethiopia, UN Women plays a pivotal role in aligning continental policy with local implementation. The office focuses on advancing gender-responsive development through deep engagement with the African Union (AU) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA). By providing technical support to policy formulation and facilitating regional coordination, UN Women ensures that gender equality commitments translate into concrete action and measurable impact across the African continent.

The culture within UN Women is one of integrity, professionalism, and profound respect for diversity. Staff members are part of a global community dedicated to high-impact results, where every administrative and strategic task contributes to the larger goal of social justice. We believe that our workforce should reflect the diversity of the communities we serve. As such, UN Women maintains a zero-tolerance policy on discrimination and is committed to creating an inclusive environment of mutual respect. We actively seek to build a team that represents various nationalities, cultures, and perspectives to ensure our advocacy remains robust and representative of the global population.

UN Women is committed to achieving workforce diversity in terms of gender, nationality, and culture. From a strategic standpoint, these positions ensure that resources are managed responsibly and that the organization's voice is heard across regional policy platforms. The Administrative Associate ensures that procurement strategies reduce costs and increase efficiency, while the Consultant identifies compelling storylines that showcase the success of initiatives like the African Girls Can Code Initiative (AGCCI) and the Spotlight Initiative.

On a daily basis, these roles offer the chance to collaborate with diverse teams across UN agencies and government bodies. You will participate in knowledge-sharing sessions, contribute to regional workshops, and play a part in historical AU Summits and high-level dialogues. This environment challenges you to be both strategic and analytical, providing a platform to sharpen your expertise in international relations and operations management.

Ultimately, joining UN Women means your work has a life-changing impact. Every contract reviewed and every press release drafted serves to dismantle the barriers facing women and girls.
