NRC is currently seeking a qualified and experienced professional to join its education program team in northern Ethiopia.

Job Description

The Education Project Coordinator will play a critical role in managing and implementing NRC’s education programs in the Amhara and Afar regions.

The position focuses on supporting education initiatives that benefit displaced communities, children, and youth who are affected by emergencies and humanitarian crises.

The successful candidate will lead the planning, coordination, and monitoring of education projects while ensuring that activities meet high technical and operational standards.

The coordinator will supervise field teams, monitor project progress, and ensure that education activities are implemented effectively in accordance with NRC guidelines and donor requirements.

The role involves collaboration with local education authorities, humanitarian partners, and community stakeholders to improve access to education services.

The coordinator will also oversee program development and contribute to education project proposals aimed at expanding educational opportunities for vulnerable populations.

Regular monitoring visits to project sites will be required to ensure that educational activities are delivered according to NRC standards.

The role also involves supervising education staff and supporting their professional development through training and mentorship.

The Education Project Coordinator will ensure that education programs focus on children and youth who need protection and access to quality education.

The position will also contribute to documenting program results, sharing lessons learned, and strengthening the quality of education interventions.

The responsibilities of the position include the following:

• Supervise and provide leadership for education project field staff
• Ensure all activities follow NRC policies, guidelines, and procedures
• Manage and implement education projects including activities, budgets, and documentation
• Prepare regular progress reports for the Area Programme Manager and Education Specialist
• Conduct assessments to identify education needs and program opportunities
• Support formal and non-formal education programs for children and youth
• Monitor school capacity development programs and youth education training activities
• Coordinate with education authorities and key stakeholders
• Represent NRC in education cluster meetings and coordination platforms
• Support recruitment and supervision of teachers for education programs
• Monitor vocational skill training programs and ensure quality implementation
• Work with public and private sector partners to support job placement opportunities
• Conduct regular field visits to education centers and project locations
• Document lessons learned and program achievements for reporting and learning purposes

Job Location

The position is based in Amhara Region, Ethiopia.

The primary working areas include Gendawuha and Aftit within the Dabat area of northern Ethiopia.

The position is listed as a remote role; however, frequent field visits to project sites and communities will be required.

Working in this region allows professionals to directly contribute to humanitarian education programs that support displaced and vulnerable communities.
