The Pharmacy Cashier position is part of Pharmacy Work Unit No. 2, where financial accuracy, customer service, and efficient cash management are essential to ensuring smooth pharmacy operations.

Job Description
The Pharmacy Cashier is responsible for managing daily cash transactions within the pharmacy outlet while ensuring compliance with financial procedures and internal controls. The role involves handling cash collections, processing payments, maintaining financial records, and supporting accurate reporting of daily transactions.

The position plays an important role in maintaining financial accountability within the pharmacy service. By ensuring that all financial transactions are properly recorded and verified, the Pharmacy Cashier helps the organization maintain transparency and operational efficiency.

The role requires strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage financial transactions responsibly.

Key responsibilities include:

• Collecting payments from customers for pharmacy products and services, issuing receipts, and providing appropriate change when required.

• Drawing cash from the bank based on authorized written orders and depositing daily collections and unclaimed salaries in the bank in a timely manner.

• Making authorized cash payments against approved written orders and ensuring proper documentation for all disbursements.

• Keeping accurate records of all amounts received and paid out and reconciling cash balances with financial records.

• Recording transaction data using a cash register machine in accordance with applicable financial and regulatory procedures.

• Verifying the cash balance against transaction records at the end of each working day.

• Organizing banknotes, coins, and other negotiable instruments properly to avoid counting errors and ensure efficient disbursement.

• Counting and recording cash at the beginning and end of each duty period and preparing reconciliation statements.

• Verifying physical cash balances against recorded financial data to ensure accuracy.

• Making authorized payments only after verifying the completion of approval procedures by authorized officials.

• Maintaining strict custody of cash and ensuring proper use of cash registers and other financial equipment.

• Paying salaries, per diems, and advances to employees based on approved payment documentation and supporting records.

• Cross-referencing bank deposit slips and check deposits with corresponding cash receipts or sales invoices.

• Sorting and organizing financial documents related to receipts and payments and distributing copies as required for internal control procedures.

• Checking the accuracy of daily cash collection reports and attached receipts.

• Managing the outlet’s petty cash, summarizing petty cash payments, and arranging replenishment when required.

• Stamping payment documents appropriately to confirm completion of transactions.

• Performing additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Pharmacy Head.

This position allows individuals to develop practical experience in financial operations within a professional healthcare-related environment.

Educational Qualification
Applicants must have one of the following qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field, or
• A College Diploma in Accounting, or
• A TVET Level IV or Level III Certificate in Accounting or Finance-related studies.

Candidates with additional training in financial management or cashier operations may have an added advantage.

Work Experience
Applicants should have 2 to 4 years of relevant work experience in cashier operations, finance, accounting support, or related administrative roles.

Experience in pharmacies, healthcare institutions, nonprofit organizations, or retail financial operations will be considered an advantage.

Candidates should demonstrate reliability in handling financial transactions and maintaining accurate records.
