Position Overview
The Project Manager (PjM) is responsible for the successful implementation of the project “WASH emergency response to the acute needs of the most vulnerable IDPs and host communities in Ethiopia”. The role includes overall project management, field-level supervision, ensuring technical and financial compliance, donor and government liaison, and coordination with multiple departments including HR, Finance, Logistics, M&E, Safeguarding, and Engineering.

Key Responsibilities
Project Management: Oversee the full project cycle including planning, needs assessment, budgeting, monitoring, reporting, and financial management. Ensure project deliverables are achieved on time and within budget, prepare agreements and amendments, and ensure donor compliance. Conduct regular field monitoring, facilitate donor and government visits, and maintain project documentation and visibility.

Team Management: Supervise local project staff, support professional growth, manage attendance and per diems, participate in recruitment and performance management, and ensure a motivated and high-performing team.

Sectoral Development: Support assessments, quality improvements, and proposal writing under supervision.

Operations & Procurement: Ensure security compliance, prepare procurement plans, monitor procurement status, verify quality of procured materials, manage logistics, and maintain proper documentation.

Financial & Administrative Requirements: Monitor budget utilization, ensure contracts are fulfilled, adhere to PIN and donor policies.

Accountability & Safeguarding (SEAH): Implement safeguarding measures, ensure staff attend relevant trainings, assess partners’ risk policies, and maintain a protective environment.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, DRM, International Development, or related humanitarian/social sciences fields.
  • 3 to 5 years professional experience in project management in humanitarian or development settings.
  • Minimum 3 years field coordination experience in WASH.
  • Strong emergency response experience, culturally sensitive, able to work under stress and in isolated environments.
  • Experience working in an INGO environment, proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Fluent in spoken and written Amharic and English.
  • 3 professional references (to be cross-checked).
