🎯 Job Purpose

Under the supervision of the Senior Political Advisor, the Programme Assistant (Strategic Partnerships) will support the WFP African Union Global Office (AUGO) in strengthening partnerships with the African Union (AU), UNECA, and other regional institutions. The role involves facilitating strategic cooperation, supporting advocacy efforts, and contributing to WFP’s goal of achieving Zero Hunger (SDG 2) across Africa.

⚙️ Key Responsibilities
  • Support strategic engagement and partnership-building with the African Union, UNECA, and related institutions.
  • Conduct research to identify key actors, potential areas of collaboration, and entry points for engagement.
  • Facilitate South-South and Triangular Cooperation initiatives to promote food and nutrition security.
  • Assist in organizing high-level events with the AU, international financial institutions (IFIs), and development partners.
  • Support the mobilization of resources and investments to advance WFP’s development and humanitarian goals.
  • Provide administrative and research support to the Strategic Partnerships Division and represent WFP in relevant technical discussions when delegated.
🎓 Required Qualifications

Education:

  • University degree in Political Science, International Relations, Economics, Development Studies, or related field.
  • Advanced degree is an asset.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in public administration, development cooperation, project management, or partnership-building.
  • Experience in strategy formulation, monitoring and evaluation, or policy analysis in a multicultural institution is an advantage.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong analytical, writing, and research skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment.

Languages:

  • Fluency in English and Amharic (oral and written).
  • Knowledge of other local languages is an added advantage.
