Job Description
The Disaster Risk Management Expert is responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing disaster risk management activities at the zonal level.

This role directly contributes to protecting lives, supporting vulnerable populations, and strengthening disaster preparedness systems.

The position involves working closely with local authorities, communities, and humanitarian partners to ensure effective and timely disaster response.

The DRM Expert will lead the establishment and deployment of emergency response teams and ensure they are well-prepared for rapid action.

The role also includes identifying separated families and facilitating reunification efforts as part of humanitarian response activities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating disaster response efforts across the zone
  • Establishing and managing emergency BDRT and rescue teams
  • Conducting vulnerability capacity assessments and rapid needs assessments
  • Supporting family tracing and reunification programs
  • Managing ambulance services and delivering first aid training
  • Implementing disaster preparedness and food security initiatives
  • Monitoring and evaluating program performance
  • Building partnerships with NGOs and local institutions
  • Supporting project proposal development and fundraising
  • Preparing and submitting regular progress reports

Educational Qualification
Applicants must have a First Degree or Second Degree in Disaster Risk Management, Development Studies, Program Development, Public Health, Social Work, Social Anthropology, Management, or Business Management.

Additional certifications in emergency response or humanitarian work will be considered an advantage.

Work Experience
Candidates should have 4 to 6 years of relevant experience in disaster risk management or humanitarian operations.

Experience working with NGOs or international organizations is highly desirable.

Hands-on experience in emergency response coordination and field operations is an added advantage.
