Job Description
The Regional Immunization Officer will support the planning, coordination, and implementation of immunization programs at the sub-national level.

The role focuses on addressing immunity gaps and reaching zero-dose and under-immunized children, particularly in hard-to-reach and vulnerable communities.

The officer will work closely with regional, zonal, and district health offices to strengthen routine immunization and supplementary vaccination campaigns.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting program planning and implementation of immunization activities
  • Strengthening microplanning processes to identify underserved populations
  • Facilitating vaccination campaigns such as catch-up initiatives and outreach strategies
  • Supporting vaccine introduction and ensuring sustainability across health facilities

The officer will also oversee surveillance activities, including vaccine-preventable disease monitoring and response.

Another important part of the role involves managing adverse events following immunization and ensuring proper reporting systems are in place.

Capacity building is a core function, with responsibilities including training health workers and providing technical support at all levels.

The officer will mentor local health teams and support supervision activities to improve service delivery.

Coordination with partners, community leaders, and stakeholders is essential to strengthen immunization coverage and demand generation.

The role includes monitoring and evaluation of immunization programs to ensure targets are achieved.

Educational Qualification

Experience in planning, monitoring, and implementing immunization activities is essential.

Candidates with five or more years of experience in supplementary immunization activities and program coordination will be highly preferred.

Experience working with WHO or other international organizations is an added advantage.
