About the Country/Multi-Country Office
Based in Addis Ababa, the Horn of Africa Multi-Country Office (HAMCO) delivers project management, procurement, and infrastructure services across Djibouti, Ethiopia, South Sudan, and Sudan. Since 2024, new projects have expanded access to healthcare, education, energy, and livelihoods, especially in underserved and conflict-affected regions. HAMCO also provides human resource management services and supports sustainable development, inclusive growth, and SDG achievement across the Horn of Africa.
Job Specific Context
The ICT Assistant, based in Mekele, Ethiopia, supports ICT administration to ensure efficient and functioning telecommunications systems and network infrastructure. The role involves maintaining and troubleshooting hardware and software, providing first-line IT support, assisting with procurement and inventory management of IT equipment, and supporting knowledge-building initiatives within the project team.
Role Purpose
The ICT Assistant executes ICT support and administration tasks according to established rules, ensuring effective service delivery to the project team.
Functions / Key Results Expected
1. Maintain and Troubleshoot Hardware and Software
• Maintain and troubleshoot desktops, laptops, printers, UPS, scanners, and other computer equipment
• Troubleshoot network issues, configure new PCs for domain network access, and respond to user queries
• Install and configure software, coordinating with ICT Associate for problem resolution
• Perform minor repairs and liaise with vendors for complex equipment maintenance
2. Provide IT Support and Helpdesk Services
• Act as first-line Helpdesk support for end-user requests and problems
• Provide technical support for telephone and telecommunication systems
• Install hardware, network connections, and assist with LAN and desktop access
• Support conference room technology, including online meetings and interviews
• Assist management with application software for presentations and reports
3. Procurement and Inventory Management
• Procure IT equipment and consumables as needed
• Maintain updated inventory of ICT equipment, software licenses, and generate audit reports
• Track warranties and coordinate with vendors for maintenance contracts
4. Google Workspace Support
• Support Gmail, Docs, Drive, Calendar, Meet, and other Google Workspace applications
5. Implementation of ICT and Operational Strategies
• Support ICT administration and operational strategies as required
