Job Description
The Health Promoter Community Engagement (HPCE) Supervisor is responsible for implementing the HPCE strategy and workplan with active community participation. Working under the guidance of the HPCE Manager, this role involves supervising HP teams in communities and health facilities to ensure project objectives are met. The supervisor leads outreach activities, adapts health messaging to local cultures, and builds trust in MSF services to improve early care-seeking among hard-to-reach populations.
Strategic impact is achieved through the management of community-based surveillance, including active case finding and early alerts for outbreaks. The supervisor ensures that community feedback and rumors are systematically collected and used to adjust health strategies. Additionally, the role involves population mapping to identify underserved areas and access barriers, ensuring that mobile clinic services are utilized effectively.
Educational Qualification
Essential: Secondary school diploma.
Desirable: Bachelor's degree in social sciences, social work, behavioral sciences, public health, community health, or nursing.
Work Experience
Essential: At least 2 years of experience in health promotion, team management, and program implementation.
Desirable: Experience in qualitative methodology is highly preferred.
Required Skills and Competencies
Technical Skills: Strong IT skills in Word and Excel are essential.
Soft Skills: Excellent negotiation skills at the community level and proficiency in participatory approaches.
Management: Proven team management and training skills, including the ability to provide on-the-job coaching.
Language: High-level command of oral and written English; Afan Oromo is highly desirable.
Humanitarian Knowledge: Deep understanding of MSF principles and a high level of knowledge regarding local customs and culture.
Job Location
Nekemte, Ethiopia (MSF-Switzerland Office).
Employment Type and Salary
Employment Type: Full-time.
Contract Length: Until June 30, 2027.
Salary: Starting base salary of USD 1009, payable in Ethiopian Birr (ETB).
Benefits: Medical cover provided as per the organization's policy.
