About the Organization

Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organization that stands at the forefront of advancing children’s rights and equality for girls. For over 85 years, the organization has rallied determined optimists to transform the lives of children in more than 80 countries. We believe in the power and potential of every child but recognize that this is often suppressed by poverty, violence, exclusion, and discrimination, with girls often bearing the heaviest burden of these systemic challenges.

Working together with children, young people, supporters, and partners, Plan International strives for a just world by tackling the root causes of the challenges faced by vulnerable children. Our work supports children’s rights from birth until they reach adulthood, enabling them to prepare for and respond to crises and adversity. We drive change in practice and policy at local, national, and global levels, utilizing our extensive reach and deep institutional knowledge to create a lasting impact.

The organization operates on a culture of inclusivity, striving to create a workplace environment where every team is rich in diverse people, thoughts, and ideas. We foster an organizational culture that embraces a commitment to racial justice, gender equality, and girls’ rights. By joining Plan International, you become part of a global movement dedicated to ensuring that children face no threats of harm and that their protection remains our highest priority.

Plan International is a signatory to the Inter-Agency Misconduct Disclosure Scheme and maintains rigorous safeguarding policies. We take our responsibility to keep children safe very seriously, ensuring that all staff members uphold the highest standards of conduct. Our mission is clear and unwavering: we won’t stop until we are all equal.

Equality, diversity, and inclusion are at the very heart of everything we stand for. We want our organization to reflect the diversity of the communities we work with, offering equal opportunities to everyone regardless of age, disability, marriage, pregnancy, race, religion, or sexual orientation. We believe that a diverse team is a stronger team, better equipped to serve the vulnerable populations who rely on our support.

We explicitly encourage women and individuals from underrepresented groups to apply for this role. Plan International is committed to providing a supportive environment where diverse professionals can thrive and contribute to our mission of achieving gender equality and child rights. Your unique background and perspective are essential to our success in the Tigray Program Area.

Working within a World Food Programme (WFP) project provides exposure to large-scale international humanitarian standards and logistics, offering a significant stepping stone for professionals looking to build a career in the international NGO sector.

The impact of this role extends beyond immediate clinical care; it is about building local capacity and resilience. By supporting and strengthening government health structures, you contribute to a sustainable health system that can better withstand future crises. You will be part of a team that is not just treating symptoms of malnutrition but is actively working to fulfill children’s rights to health and survival in Tigray.
