Job Description
UNHCR is seeking a skilled Electrician to join its team in Asosa, Ethiopia. This role is responsible for maintaining, repairing, overhauling, and rebuilding diesel generators and other electrical appliances across office and guesthouse facilities. The Electrician ensures that all electrical installations are safe, reliable, and compliant with local and international standards.

Key responsibilities include carrying out new electrical installations, identifying faulty or outdated wiring, and performing preventive maintenance on all electrical systems. The Electrician will oversee the work of external contractors, manage procurement of electrical materials, and enforce safety compliance standards.

The incumbent will perform inspections, testing, calibration, and updates on generator systems and wiring to ensure operational reliability and safety. They will also maintain inventories of parts and prepare reports on labor, materials, and repair needs.

Educational Qualification

  • High School Diploma with two years of relevant experience, or
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with at least one year of relevant experience.
  • Certifications in Electrical Studies, Electricity, or Electronics/Electro-Mechanics.

Work Experience

  • Experience in electrical maintenance, installation, and generator operation.
  • Familiarity with power supply systems is desirable.
  • UN work experience is advantageous but not required.
