Job Description
UNHCR is seeking a qualified Electrician to join its team in Melkadida, Ethiopia. This role is essential for maintaining and repairing electrical systems, diesel generators, and other electrical appliances in office and field facilities. The incumbent ensures that all electrical work is safe, reliable, and compliant with both local and international standards.
Key responsibilities include performing new electrical installations, identifying and fixing faulty wiring, and overseeing preventive maintenance of all electrical systems. The Electrician will also supervise external contractors performing electrical work and assist in procurement of electrical materials.
The role requires regular inspection, testing, and evaluation of generators and other equipment, ensuring their functionality, reliability, and safety. The Electrician will maintain accurate inventories, prepare maintenance schedules, and produce reports on labor, materials, and equipment status.

Educational Qualification
- High School Diploma with at least one year of relevant experience, or
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
- Relevant certifications in Electrical Studies, Electricity, or Electronics/Electro-Mechanics.
Work Experience
- At least one year of experience in electrical maintenance, installation, or related work.
- Experience in managing diesel generators, electrical systems, or power tools is desirable.
- UN work experience is an advantage but not required.

- Knowledge of local and international electrical safety standards
