Job Description
UNHCR is seeking a Building Services Assistant to join its team in Gambella, Ethiopia. The role is essential to ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of office and field facilities. The incumbent will support internal customers by managing day-to-day building services, assisting in transportation, organizing events, and coordinating with third-party service providers.

The Building Services Assistant will monitor service provider compliance, recommend corrective measures, and help maintain a safe, functional, and well-organized work environment. The position includes assisting with warehouse operations, internal moves, minor repairs, and inventory management.

The incumbent will handle transportation tasks, support official vehicle management, and provide assistance with procurement-related activities, including verifying invoices, receiving goods, and ensuring proper record-keeping in UNHCR ERP systems.

This role allows for career development in facility management, logistics, and administrative coordination, with opportunities to learn ERP system management, supply chain procedures, and organizational standards.

Educational Qualification

  • High School Diploma with at least one year of relevant experience, or
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with relevant experience.
  • A valid driving license is required.

Work Experience

  • Experience in support services, building maintenance, logistics, procurement, or financial management.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems for supply chain and financial management.
  • Knowledge of administrative rules, procedures, and Microsoft Office is desirable.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • IT and computer literacy
  • Supply chain management using PeopleSoft
  • Financial management in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft, Workday, etc.)
