Job Description

The Nutrition Officer is responsible for overseeing and strengthening nutrition interventions in supported health facilities. The role focuses on monitoring nutrition activities, supervising community and facility-level service delivery, and ensuring quality implementation of CMAM programs.

The officer will conduct health facility capacity assessments and institutional mapping of therapeutic feeding programs in collaboration with Woreda health offices and project teams.

The role includes mapping community-level actors and developing referral pathways to strengthen service integration.

The Nutrition Officer will monitor screening data for acute malnutrition and support disease surveillance reporting. Participation in nutrition assessments and MUAC screening campaigns is required.

The position ensures that OTP and Stabilization Center services operate in line with national protocols and international standards. Monitoring appropriate documentation and rational use of supplies such as RUTF and therapeutic milk is essential.

The officer will supervise and mentor community health workers, health extension workers, and volunteers. Regular capacity assessments and supportive supervision are key aspects of the role.

Training facilitation, coordination with woreda-level stakeholders, and participation in coordination meetings are integral responsibilities.

The role also involves preparing monthly activity reports, updating mapping tools, analyzing service delivery data, and providing feedback to health facilities and local authorities.

This position provides strong career development in nutrition programming, CMAM implementation, and humanitarian health coordination. It offers field-level leadership experience and exposure to integrated health and nutrition systems.

Educational Qualification

BSc in Public Health or Nursing.

Work Experience

Minimum of three years of experience for BSc holders in humanitarian integrated projects within NGOs or in CMAM-related positions.

Previous NGO experience in a similar role is preferred.

Required Skills and Competencies

Training or certification in CMAM management (TOT preferred).

Strong mentoring, facilitation, and interpersonal communication skills.

Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines with minimal supervision.

Respect for multicultural environments and ability to promote team collaboration.

Strong data analysis and reporting skills.

Resourceful, self-motivated, and solution-oriented mindset.
