Job Description
The Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP) Officer is responsible for ensuring the effective implementation, coordination, and monitoring of AAP mechanisms across project sectors and partners.
The role focuses particularly on Shelter, Non-Food Items (NFI), and WASH interventions within the Gambella Program Area.
The AAP Officer manages client feedback systems to ensure timely collection, documentation, analysis, and response to feedback from affected communities.
The position ensures that feedback mechanisms are accessible, confidential, and aligned with protection standards.
The officer works closely with program teams to assess performance against AAP commitments and ensure continuous improvement in accountability practices.
The role involves analyzing feedback data and ensuring that insights are used to inform program adjustments and decision-making.
The officer supports the production of high-quality reports and documentation related to accountability and community feedback systems.
The position facilitates knowledge sharing and promotes emerging best practices in accountability and community engagement.
The AAP Officer also contributes to communication, outreach, and knowledge management activities that strengthen transparency and program quality.
A key responsibility is ensuring that community feedback directly informs sector-specific programming, including shelter upgrades, NFI distributions, and WASH services.
The role plays a critical part in strengthening trust between communities and the organization, enhancing program effectiveness and safeguarding standards.
Professionals in this position will gain valuable experience in accountability systems, data analysis, protection standards, and multi-sector humanitarian coordination.
Educational Qualification
A Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Public Health, Humanitarian Studies, or a related field is typically required.
Additional training in accountability frameworks, safeguarding, or monitoring and evaluation is considered an advantage.
Work Experience
Relevant experience in accountability to affected populations, monitoring and evaluation, or community engagement within humanitarian or development programs is required.
Experience working in Shelter, NFI, or WASH sectors is considered an asset.
Proven experience in managing feedback and complaint response mechanisms is highly desirable.
Experience in data analysis, reporting, and stakeholder coordination is important for this role.

Employment Type and Salary
Six-month contract with the possibility of extension based on performance and project needs.
The position reports to the Project Coordinator for the Shelter and WASH Project.
