This position is part of a UNICEF-funded education project designed to strengthen inclusive and safe learning environments in emergency-affected areas.
Job Description
The Education in Emergency Assistant provides comprehensive technical and operational support for the assessment and implementation of education activities under the project.
The role supports the full project cycle, beginning with needs assessments, response analysis, and planning, and continues through implementation, monitoring, and reporting.
The assistant works to ensure quality service delivery while adhering to organizational and donor standards.
A key responsibility of the role is strengthening inclusive and safe learning environments across the three target woredas.
The position requires close collaboration with teachers, school leaders, woreda education offices, and community structures.
The assistant supports initiatives that improve school enrolment, particularly for girls and vulnerable children.
The role also promotes effective teaching and learning practices aligned with project objectives and national education priorities.
The position includes supporting community engagement activities that encourage parents and caregivers to value and support children’s education.
The Education in Emergency Assistant ensures that safeguarding, child protection, and gender-responsive education principles are integrated into daily activities.
Monitoring progress, maintaining documentation, and preparing timely reports are key responsibilities of this role.
The position plays an essential role in ensuring that children affected by emergencies have access to safe, quality, and inclusive education opportunities.
This role offers strong professional development opportunities in humanitarian education programming and community-based interventions.

Educational Qualification
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Community Development, Social Sciences, or a related field.
Additional training in education in emergencies, child protection, or inclusive education is considered an advantage.
Work Experience
Minimum of two years of experience supporting education projects.
Experience working in emergency or humanitarian contexts is preferred.
Knowledge of humanitarian programming, child protection principles, and gender-responsive education approaches is required.
Experience in working closely with schools, teachers, and community structures is desirable.
Required Skills and Competencies
Strong computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
Ability to prepare clear, accurate, and well-structured reports and documentation.
