Job Description

The Sanitation and Hygiene Promotion Assistant will work closely with volunteer social workers, community structures, and representatives of partner organizations.

The position holder will have frequent contact with community members and program participants, serving as the primary representative of Plan International at the grassroots level in the assigned area.

The role focuses on promoting improved hygiene behaviors, strengthening sanitation practices, and supporting WASH interventions in project communities.

The assistant will mobilize communities to participate actively in hygiene promotion campaigns and sanitation improvement initiatives.

The position requires planning and implementing hygiene awareness sessions tailored to local needs and cultural contexts.

The role also includes supervising and supporting community volunteers to ensure effective program delivery.

Monitoring progress, collecting data, and preparing regular activity reports are key responsibilities.

The assistant will ensure that safeguarding and gender equality principles are integrated into daily activities and community engagement efforts.

This position contributes directly to reducing waterborne diseases, improving public health outcomes, and enhancing dignity in vulnerable communities.

Educational Qualification

Work Experience

A minimum of 2 years of total professional experience is required.

Experience in development programs and emergency WASH interventions is highly advantageous.

Practical experience in hygiene promotion within complex or high-demand environments is desirable.

Demonstrated experience in community mobilization, planning, implementation, supervision, monitoring, and reporting is required.

Experience working in rural or remote settings will be considered an asset.
