Technical Lead – Childhood Development Activity

Role Purpose:
Save the Children seeks a Technical Lead for an early childhood development and education (ECDE) program in emergency contexts in Ethiopia. The role oversees technical teams, builds local partner capacity, ensures program compliance with Save the Children and LEGO Foundation standards, prepares reports, and aligns project initiatives with in-country priorities.
Scope of Role:
Reports to Director of Education in Emergencies (DEiE). Supervises Senior Advisors for Teacher Education and Community Engagement. The program benefits approximately 500,000 children aged 3–6+ across Afar, Amhara, Tigray, Oromia, and Somali regions.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure CDA delivery according to LEGO Foundation and Government of Ethiopia requirements. Represent the program in meetings with stakeholders. Oversee partner outputs through field visits and technical meetings. Coordinate reporting, capacity building, quality teaching, community engagement, monitoring, and evaluation. Provide technical support to implementing partners. Ensure safeguarding and child protection standards. Support financial compliance, KPI achievement, and operational excellence.
Qualifications:
Master’s degree or higher in education, early childhood education, developmental psychology, or related field.
Experience and Skills:
Minimum 8 years managing early childhood and education projects in emergency contexts. At least 3 years managing LEGO Foundation-funded projects. Proven experience in project management, strategic planning, program evaluation, consortium leadership, and collaboration with government, donors, and private sector. Strong leadership, communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills. Fluent in English.
