Role Purpose
The Specialist: Transmission Network Operation Support (DWDM) is responsible for ensuring reliable, efficient, and high-quality operation of the end-to-end DWDM transmission network. The role focuses on network maintenance, fault resolution, performance analysis, and continuous improvement of transmission infrastructure in line with business and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
Maintain end-to-end DWDM transmission systems and perform capacity reporting and analysis. Troubleshoot, analyze, and restore network faults within defined MTTR targets. Ensure continuous monitoring of all DWDM network elements. Support planning and design reviews across transmission technologies including Fiber, DWDM, GPON, OTN, and VSAT. Coordinate DWDM network testing and acceptance in collaboration with planning and infrastructure teams. Lead and coordinate network improvement initiatives with OEMs and partners. Perform preventive maintenance on all transport network elements and document results. Manage and account for spares deployed at network sites. Provide periodic feedback and reporting on transmission network performance. Maintain an up-to-date network information database. Ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines and facilitate required reporting. Enforce occupational health and safety standards during all work activities. Monitor and evaluate the design quality of self-built fiber networks. Maintain fiber network infrastructure including OSP and ISP components.

Core Competencies
Ability to generate actionable insights through data analysis to identify system requirements affecting transmission and IP network maintenance. Strong analytical skills to translate data into opportunities for network optimization and risk mitigation. Ability to assess and recommend new transmission technologies to meet evolving business requirements.

Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering or a Higher National Diploma in Electronics or Telecommunications. Minimum of five years’ experience in a telecommunications environment, including at least three years in a specialized role supporting DWDM transmission networks. Proven experience in transmission network operations, design, planning, installation, commissioning, and project delivery. Strong working knowledge of transmission technologies and in-depth understanding of WDM systems. Knowledge of software-defined networking principles is an advantage. Strong computer literacy with the ability to prepare management reports and use project management tools.
