About the Organization
Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organization that advances children’s rights and equality for girls. For over 85 years, the organization has rallied “determined optimists” to transform the lives of children in more than 80 countries. Plan International believes in the power and potential of every child but recognizes that this is often suppressed by poverty, violence, exclusion, and discrimination—and it is girls who are most affected.
Working together with children, young people, supporters, and partners, Plan International strives for a just world, tackling the root causes of the challenges girls and vulnerable children face. The organization supports children’s rights from birth until they reach adulthood and enables children to prepare for and respond to crises and adversity. We drive changes in practice and policy at local, national, and global levels using our reach, experience, and knowledge.
Equality, diversity, and inclusion are at the very heart of everything Plan International stands for. We want our organization to reflect the diversity of the communities we work with, offering equal opportunities to everyone regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, or sexual orientation. We foster an organizational culture that embraces racial justice and inclusion.
Plan International is a child-focused organization committed to safeguarding. We believe that in a world where children face so many threats of harm, it is our duty to ensure that we, as an organization, do everything we can to keep children safe. This means that we have particular responsibilities to children that we come into contact with and we must not contribute in any way to harming or placing children at risk.
Plan International Ethiopia strongly encourages women and underrepresented groups to apply. We are dedicated to creating a workplace environment that ensures every team is rich in diverse people, thoughts, and ideas. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. Please note that scanned certificates or attachments are not required at the application stage.
Job Description and Strategic Impact
The Logistics Assistant-Warehouse & Asset Keeper plays a fundamental role in the operational success of nutrition and health programs in the West Guji and Guji Zones. This position is responsible for managing warehouse activities, including the receipt, storage, control, and issuance of vital supplies and equipment. By maintaining meticulous records of fixed assets and GIK (Gifts In Kind) commodities like RUSF and CSB++, you ensure that the supply chain remains unbroken.
Your daily impact is felt through the precise management of stock using LESS Last Mile, FEFO/FIFO methods, and strict environmental controls for pests and humidity. You are the guardian of the resources that allow the TSFP (Targeted Supplementary Feeding Programme) to achieve over 85% MAM coverage. Without your oversight, the risk of stock-outs or commodity spoilage would directly threaten the lives of the children and mothers Plan International serves.
Professional growth in this role is significant, as it requires mastering WFP warehouse standards and Plan International’s global GIK SOPs. You will develop advanced skills in stock report production, asset tracking, and inventory management. This position provides a high-level view of humanitarian logistics, preparing you for senior management roles within the international NGO sector.
Strategically, the Logistics Assistant ensures that every dollar spent on supplies is accounted for and utilized efficiently. By organizing stores in a professional manner and ensuring prompt service to program units, you facilitate the seamless execution of field activities. Ultimately, your work enables the “determined optimists” of Plan International to deliver results. By maintaining a secure and efficient warehouse, you provide the foundation upon which children’s rights are defended. Your dedication to honesty, trustworthiness, and time management makes you a cornerstone of the Field Office’s operational integrity.
