Organization Overview:
The United Nations Resident Coordinator System (RCS) is seeking a Development Coordination Officer to support rapid economic assessments and coordination for crisis response under the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF). This position provides strategic and operational guidance to Resident Coordinator Offices (RCOs) and UN Country Teams, ensuring effective collaboration and evidence-based decision-making during development challenges and crisis contexts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct political economy and rapid economic impact assessments in crisis-affected contexts.
  • Collaborate with RCO Economists and UN Country Teams to develop economic recovery and resilience plans.
  • Support policy advocacy, SDG financing, and scenario planning in coordination with governments and partners.
  • Develop foresight models to forecast economic outcomes and identify stabilization options.
  • Lead the preparation of analytical and flagship UN reports related to crisis recovery and SDG acceleration.
  • Advise on short-term and long-term fiscal and monetary measures to support inclusive growth.
  • Strengthen data-driven programming by setting up crisis dashboards and integrating economic analysis into UN programming.

Education:

  • Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in Economics or related field.
  • A first-level degree with two additional years of experience may be accepted.
  • Training in data analytics or business/data science is an advantage.

Experience:

  • Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in sustainable development policy, economic research, and crisis analysis.
  • Strong understanding of development economics, SDG financing, and political economy in crisis settings.
  • Proven experience in inter-agency coordination and multi-stakeholder collaboration.
  • Excellent analytical and writing skills with experience using statistical and data visualization tools.

Languages:

  • Proficiency in English and French (both required).

Contract Type: Temporary Appointment (364 days)
