Job Description and Strategic Impact
The Data Engineer – Health Analytics and Visualization is a high-level technical role essential to the success of the Data.FI project in Ethiopia. This position is responsible for the architectural design and maintenance of data systems that turn complex, fragmented health datasets into high-quality, analysis-ready information. In a landscape where public health decisions save lives, your work ensures that policy-makers at the Ministry of Health (MOH) have the structured data they need to act with confidence.
As a strategic technical lead, you will bridge the gap between raw data collection and actionable insight. By developing automated ETL/ELT pipelines and integrating diverse systems like DHIS2, EMRs, and LMIS, you create a unified “source of truth” for the national health response. Your role is not just about writing code; it is about building the digital infrastructure that tracks the progress of life-saving treatments across the country.
The impact of this role is felt at every level of the Ethiopian healthcare system. From creating interactive dashboards for national planning to providing ad hoc data analysis for regional health bureaus, your outputs directly influence how resources are allocated to combat HIV, TB, and other health risks. You will serve as a technical mentor, strengthening the capacity of government units to manage and interpret data, thereby ensuring the long-term sustainability of the country’s digital health ecosystem.
Professional growth at Palladium is driven by the complexity and scale of our projects. In this role, you will work at the cutting edge of digital health, utilizing modern tools like Python, SQL, Power BI, and cloud platforms (Azure/AWS/GCP). You will collaborate with international experts and government leaders, positioning yourself as a premier authority in health informatics and data engineering within the global development sector.
Every pipeline you optimize and every dashboard you build contributes to a more resilient health system. Your work provides the evidence needed to improve performance and close gaps in care. If you are a seasoned data professional looking to apply your skills to a mission that has a tectonic impact on public health, this role offers the perfect platform to lead and innovate.
