Job Summary
Education Development Trust is seeking a Finance and Grant Officer to join the finance team for our new education and skills programme in Ethiopia. The programme strengthens the relevance and quality of secondary education to ensure students successfully transition to tertiary education or the workforce through competency-based curriculum implementation. The Finance and Grant Officer will manage financial, accounting, compliance, and grant management functions, ensuring financial integrity and reporting in line with donor and corporate requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee primary financial, accounting, and compliance functions of the organisation.
  • Manage grant finances, ensuring alignment with donor requirements and internal policies.
  • Maintain accurate financial transactions and records in compliance with Ethiopian laws.
  • Prepare consolidated financial plans, budgets, and reports for donor and corporate reporting.
  • Ensure financial integrity and control across all project activities.
  • Support multi-year, multi-donor project financial management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (Finance & Accounting), Economics, or relevant discipline; CPA or ACCA certification preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of accounting concepts and financial procedures for development partners, e.g., FCDO, EC, USAID, MCF.
  • Proficiency in IT-based financial/accounting packages.
  • Knowledge of Ethiopian banking systems and statutory requirements.
  • Minimum of 5 years post-qualification relevant experience, preferably in the NGO sector.
  • Experience supporting financial aspects of multi-year, multi-donor projects.
