Job Context
The position is based in Mekele. Under the Support Services Senior Analyst and Finance Specialist, the Finance Associate ensures high-quality financial verification, accuracy and compliance while coordinating closely with operations, programme and project teams.

Role Purpose
Provide accounting, budget administration, cash management and financial reporting support, ensuring efficient, accurate and compliant financial operations aligned with UNOPS policies and donor requirements.

Budget Administration & Cost Recovery
Support budget preparation and monitoring, prepare financial analyses, maintain cost-recovery systems, assist in agreement preparation, follow up on contributions, support project closure, and contribute to cost-saving measures.

Accounting, Payments & Payroll
Verify payment requests, process vouchers and transactions in ERP, maintain expenditure controls, reconcile accounts, support payroll processing, record accruals, and ensure timely month-end and year-end closures.

Cash & Treasury Management
Monitor cash positions, manage imprests, prepare cash forecasts, conduct bank reconciliations, initiate transfers and FX transactions, and manage petty cash and operational advances.

Financial Reporting & Analysis
Prepare donor reports, financial statements, variance analyses, support audits, maintain VAT and balance accounts, perform reconciliations and adjusting entries.

Knowledge Building & Sharing
Support training sessions, participate in knowledge-sharing initiatives, prepare briefs and research finance topics.

Education Requirements
Required:
Secondary school with 6 years’ experience OR Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting/Business with 2 years’ experience
