The Coalition of Ethiopian Civil Society Organizations for Elections (CECOE) is a prominent non-profit and non-governmental organization established in 2019. Registered under the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia Authority for Civil Society Organizations, CECOE serves as a vital pillar in the nation's democratic journey. Our primary mission is to enhance the transparency, credibility, and inclusivity of the electoral process through independent citizen observation and civic engagement.

As we prepare for the 7th General Election, CECOE is embarking on a massive operational undertaking to deploy 5,000 Short-Term Observers (STOs) across the diverse regions of Ethiopia. Our work is grounded in the belief that an informed and active civil society is essential for a peaceful and democratic society. By providing objective data on the conduct of elections, we contribute to the national dialogue and the continuous improvement of electoral integrity.

The organization operates with a culture of strict neutrality, professionalism, and commitment to the rule of law. We provide a platform for Ethiopian citizens to participate directly in the democratic oversight of their country. Our environment is fast-paced and mission-driven, requiring individuals who are dedicated to the values of accuracy and confidentiality in a high-stakes setting.

At CECOE, we value the diverse linguistic and cultural heritage of Ethiopia. We recognize that a truly national observation effort must reflect the people it serves. We foster an inclusive workplace where different perspectives are valued, and we actively encourage candidates from all regional backgrounds and linguistic groups to join our specialized teams.

In line with our commitment to equity, we strongly encourage women and members of underrepresented groups to apply for these positions. We believe that professional growth in the field of democratic governance should be accessible to all qualified Ethiopians, and we are dedicated to providing the training and support necessary for our staff to succeed in their roles.

Job Description and Strategic Impact

The role of the Data Clerk is essential to the success of the CECOE Election Situation Room. In this capacity, you will serve as the technical link between 5,000 observers in the field and the final analysis that informs the nation about the election's conduct. Your work ensures that the raw data gathered from polling stations is verified, cleaned, and transformed into reliable information.

Working within the Election Situation Room is a high-impact leadership and technical experience. You will be responsible for receiving observation reports, following up on critical incidents with field observers, and validating data within our established systems. This role requires a "day-in-the-life" focus on precision, as the accuracy of CECOE’s public statements depends directly on the quality of your data entry and verification.

Career development within CECOE offers unique exposure to the intersection of technology and governance. You will receive practical, hands-on training that prepares you for the complexities of real-time data management. The skills you gain in data cleaning, incident reporting, and working under the supervision of senior electoral experts are highly transferable to careers in statistics, information technology, and social research.

The strategic importance of this role cannot be overstated. By maintaining the confidentiality and integrity of the data, you help safeguard the credibility of the entire observation mission. This is a rare opportunity to be at the heart of Ethiopia’s democratic process, contributing to a project of national significance that promotes peace and accountability.

Your impact is measured by the clarity and accuracy of the reports generated by the Situation Room. We are looking for individuals who can work effectively in a team, maintain professional conduct under pressure, and uphold the highest standards of the CECOE Code of Conduct. Joining this team means playing a direct role in ensuring the 7th General Election is observed with the highest level of professional rigor.
