About the Organization

Farm Africa, established in 1985, is a specialist international non-governmental organization dedicated to transforming lives in remote and resource-poor rural areas across East Africa, including Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, South Sudan, and Uganda. Our core belief is in a prosperous rural Africa where poverty is reduced through sustainable practices. We achieve this by helping farmers and herders increase food production, maintain livestock health, and manage natural resources in a way that protects the environment for future generations.

Our organization operates through powerful partnerships with local communities, governments, the private sector, and other international NGOs. By developing strong rural livelihoods and sharing the results of our evidence-based work, we aim to achieve maximum impact and influence broader developmental strategies. At Farm Africa, we foster a culture of professional excellence, integrity, and mutual respect, where every staff member contributes to a mission larger than themselves.

We are deeply committed to a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion. We believe that empowering diverse voices leads to more innovative solutions for the complex challenges facing rural Africa. Our recruitment and operational practices are designed to ensure that everyone, regardless of background, has an equal opportunity to thrive within our organization.

In line with our inclusive values, we strongly encourage women and individuals from underrepresented groups to apply for these positions. Farm Africa is dedicated to promoting gender equality in agriculture and natural resource management, and we provide a supportive atmosphere designed to help all professionals reach their full potential. We believe your unique perspective can help us build more resilient and prosperous rural communities.

Job Description and Strategic Impact

These roles are integral to the implementation of the "Ecosystem-based Solutions for Biodiversity Conservation and Resilient Livelihoods" (ECOR) project in the Yayu Coffee Forest Biosphere Reserve. This project seeks to balance the critical needs of biodiversity conservation with the development of resilient livelihoods for local communities. By joining this team, you will be at the forefront of translating environmental objectives into tangible, field-level actions that protect forests, wetlands, and wildlife habitats while enhancing community well-being.

The Community Development Facilitator (CDF) serves as the vital bridge between the ECOR project and the local communities and government representatives. You will lead the implementation of activities at the grassroots level, facilitating beneficiary selection and building the capacity of community-based organizations (CBOs). Your work ensures that project interventions are participatory, inclusive of women and youth, and culturally appropriate, thereby ensuring long-term sustainability.

The Biodiversity and Natural Resources Management Officer provides the technical leadership necessary for ecosystem restoration and sustainable land-use practices. You will guide participatory forest management (PFM) initiatives and implement nature-based solutions for watershed and wetland restoration. Your expertise ensures that our conservation strategies are technically sound and effectively balance environmental priorities with the socioeconomic needs of the community.

Career development at Farm Africa is focused on providing professionals with deep field experience and technical mastery of sustainable development goals. We provide an environment where you can sharpen your skills in facilitation, technical NRM implementation, and multi-stakeholder coordination. Working with us offers a clear pathway to becoming a leader in the international NGO and agricultural sectors.
