About the Organization
Farm Africa is an esteemed international non-governmental organization that has dedicated decades to transforming the lives of smallholder farmers across rural Africa. Our mission is built on the fundamental belief that for Africa’s rural communities to thrive, they must have the tools and expertise to grow their agriculture while simultaneously protecting the environment. We do not just provide temporary aid; we build sustainable systems that allow families to create their own path out of poverty through business development and natural resource management.
Our vision is of a prosperous rural Africa where people have the resources to withstand climate shocks and the market access to grow their incomes. To achieve this, Farm Africa operates at the intersection of environmental conservation and economic productivity. We specialize in evidence-based solutions that are tested on the ground, ensuring that every project we undertake is technically sound and culturally appropriate for the communities we serve.
The core values of Farm Africa—Expert, Grounded, Impactful, and Bold—guide every decision we make. Being "Expert" means we rely on scientific evidence and specialized knowledge; being "Grounded" means we work side-by-side with local communities; being "Impactful" ensures our work leaves a lasting legacy; and being "Bold" allows us to innovate and challenge outdated development models that are no longer effective.
Diversity, equity, and inclusion are not just buzzwords at Farm Africa; they are central to our operational success. We recognize that rural development is most effective when it includes the voices of everyone, regardless of gender or background. We strive to create a workplace that reflects the diverse communities we support, fostering an environment where every employee feels valued and empowered to contribute to our mission.
Farm Africa is an equal opportunity employer that actively promotes gender equity in the workplace. We strongly encourage women, persons with disabilities, and individuals from underrepresented groups to apply for these positions. We are committed to building a team that represents a wide range of perspectives and experiences to better serve our beneficiaries.
Job Description and Strategic Impact
The recruitment for these diverse roles under the "Harnessing Forests and Ecosystems for a Climate-Nature-People Triple Win" (HARNESS) project marks a critical expansion of our operations in Ethiopia. Each of these positions serves as a vital cog in a sophisticated machine designed to protect vital ecosystems while enhancing the livelihoods of those who depend on them. The strategic importance of these roles cannot be overstated, as they represent our commitment to achieving measurable results in climate resilience and economic growth.
For those stepping into these roles, the "day-in-the-life" impact involves a dynamic mix of community engagement, technical oversight, and administrative excellence. Whether you are facilitating a community dialogue in a remote watershed or managing the complex financial logistics of a field office, your work directly contributes to the preservation of Ethiopia’s natural heritage and the financial stability of its rural inhabitants.
These positions offer unparalleled career development opportunities within the international NGO sector. Farm Africa provides a platform where professionals can hone their skills in a specialized, mission-driven environment. You will have the chance to work with leading experts in forestry, finance, and procurement, gaining insights into the latest global standards for sustainable development and environmental stewardship.
The HARNESS project is designed to create a "triple win" where nature is protected, the climate is stabilized, and people prosper. By joining this project, you are choosing a career path that balances professional growth with significant social and environmental responsibility. We invest in our staff, providing them with the necessary training and support to excel in their current roles and prepare for future leadership opportunities.
Ultimately, the impact of these roles will be seen in the rejuvenated forests, the thriving community-based organizations, and the increased household incomes of thousands of farmers. You will be part of a legacy that prioritizes long-term sustainability over short-term fixes, ensuring that the benefits of the HARNESS project are felt for generations to come.
