Job Description and Strategic Impact
The roles of Field Cashier, Community Development Facilitator, and Project Finance and Admin Officer are integral to the success of the Harnessing Forests and Ecosystems for a Climate-Nature-People Triple Win (HARNESS) project. These positions represent the backbone of the project’s operations, ensuring that financial resources are managed with integrity and that community engagement is meaningful and effective. Each role plays a strategic part in achieving the project's outputs and outcomes, directly impacting the lives of those in the Bale and South West regions.
For the finance and administrative roles, the impact is found in the precision and transparency of project operations. By maintaining rigorous financial controls and efficient logistics, these professionals ensure that every penny is utilized for its intended purpose—protecting the environment and supporting rural livelihoods. A day-in-the-life involves high-level coordination, meticulous record-keeping, and strategic planning, all of which contribute to the organizational stability required for large-scale NGO operations.
The Community Development Facilitators act as the vital bridge between the project's technical goals and the communities they serve. Their impact is felt through the empowerment of local institutions and the successful implementation of climate-smart activities. By facilitating dialogues and building the capacity of community-based organizations, they ensure that the project's benefits are sustainable and reach those who need them most, particularly women and youth enterprises.
Working with Farm Africa offers significant professional growth opportunities. Employees are exposed to international standards of NGO management and have the chance to work alongside experts in the fields of NRM, forestry, and sustainable finance. The organization invests in its people, providing a platform where initiative is rewarded and professional boundaries are expanded through diverse tasks and responsibilities.
Ultimately, these roles offer more than just a job; they offer a chance to be part of a strategic movement toward a greener and more equitable future for Ethiopia. Whether managing petty cash or leading a community meeting, every task performed by the staff contributes to a larger narrative of resilience and progress in the face of global climate challenges.
