Job Description
Save the Children International is seeking a highly experienced Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Advisor to provide strategic leadership for monitoring, evaluation, and learning activities within a large humanitarian response program.

The MEAL Advisor will be responsible for ensuring that strong monitoring and evaluation systems are established across all sectors of the Area-Based Approach (ABA) humanitarian response.

The role focuses on building reliable systems that track program progress, measure impact, and support evidence-based decision-making.

The MEAL Advisor will guide program teams and partners in collecting, analyzing, and using high-quality data to improve humanitarian program effectiveness.

The position requires developing and implementing comprehensive MEAL frameworks that align with donor requirements and organizational standards.

The MEAL Advisor will work closely with program leadership and consortium partners to strengthen data management and reporting systems.

Another important responsibility is ensuring that monitoring systems effectively track outputs, outcomes, and program impact.

The advisor will also lead the development of data collection tools and methodologies that support consistent and accurate program monitoring.

The position includes overseeing data quality assurance processes to ensure that program data is reliable and credible.

The MEAL Advisor will lead baseline, mid-term, and end-line evaluations as well as thematic research studies and assessments.

The role involves ensuring that evaluation activities follow international standards and ethical research practices.

Another key responsibility includes strengthening accountability mechanisms that allow communities to provide feedback on program activities.

The advisor will ensure that feedback from communities is analyzed and integrated into program improvement and decision-making.

The position also focuses on promoting inclusive participation from women, children, people with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups.

The MEAL Advisor will support the documentation of lessons learned and best practices from humanitarian programming.

The role will also involve organizing learning events and reflection workshops to improve program performance.

Educational Qualification
Applicants must hold a Master’s degree in Monitoring and Evaluation, Statistics, Public Health, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or another related field.

Professional certifications related to monitoring, evaluation, or project management are also beneficial.

Work Experience
Candidates should have a minimum of eight to ten years of professional experience in monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning within humanitarian or development programs.

Applicants must demonstrate proven experience designing and managing MEAL systems for large multi-sector humanitarian programs.

Experience in managing research studies, evaluations, and evidence-generation initiatives is required.

Applicants should also have experience working with consortium programs and donor-funded humanitarian projects.

Experience working in complex humanitarian environments is considered highly valuable.

Familiarity with the Ethiopian humanitarian and development context is considered an advantage.

Experience supporting capacity building for local partners and national organizations will also be beneficial.

Employment Type and Salary
