Job Description
The Project Clerk (Community Worker) will support the direct implementation of livelihood activities under a major humanitarian and recovery project funded by the European Union.

The role focuses on improving the living conditions of internally displaced persons and host communities through access to skills training, financial services, and economic opportunities.

The selected candidate will be based in the assigned woreda and will work closely with beneficiaries, business groups, and local authorities.

This position plays a critical role in monitoring field activities, mentoring community groups, and ensuring project outputs are achieved on time.

The role also provides valuable exposure to large-scale humanitarian and development programming, offering strong professional growth and learning opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support implementation and monitoring of livelihood activities at woreda level.
  • Coach and mentor business groups and TVET trainees.
  • Act as a focal point for coordination with government and local stakeholders.
  • Assist in the delivery of start-up capital and monitor proper utilization.
  • Collect, compile, and report project data and progress updates.
  • Support market linkages for individual and group businesses.
  • Ensure coordination with implementing partners.
  • Organize meetings, workshops, and training sessions.
  • Maintain records, files, and reports.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Educational Qualification
Applicants must have either a school diploma with three years of relevant experience or a Bachelor’s Degree in political or social sciences, international relations, development studies, migration studies, human rights, law, or related fields with at least one year of relevant experience.

This academic background supports effective engagement with communities and project stakeholders.

Work Experience
Candidates should have experience working with governmental authorities, NGOs, UN agencies, or international institutions.

Experience working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, or other vulnerable groups is required.

Background in livelihood projects, skills training, and value chain development is highly desirable.

This is a consultancy position for up to 11 months, with an initial contract of 10 months.

The role is classified under Grade UG3. Salary and benefits are provided according to IOM consultancy scales.
