Job Summary
Education Development Trust is seeking a GEDSI and Safeguarding Specialist to ensure the effective integration of gender equality, disability, social inclusion, and safeguarding principles across our new education and skills programme in Ethiopia. The programme aims to strengthen the relevance and quality of secondary education, preparing students for successful transitions to tertiary education or the workforce through enhanced implementation of the competency-based curriculum.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical input to embed gender-responsive, disability-inclusive, and safeguarding-focused approaches in curriculum development, teacher training, school leadership, and community engagement.
- Develop, adapt, and implement tools, checklists, and resources for use by edt teams and downstream partners.
- Provide technical leadership and oversight to Regional GEDSI and Safeguarding Officers.
- Ensure the effective implementation of the safeguarding policy and procedures, aligned with edt's safeguarding framework.
- Support programme teams to monitor, evaluate, and improve GEDSI and safeguarding integration across all programme components.
Requirements
- Experience leading a workstream on large-scale, donor-funded projects or equivalent experience in managing gender, education, or youth programmes.
- Experience designing and delivering training and awareness activities for diverse audiences, including educators and youth.
- Experience working with disadvantaged youth, including adolescent girls, refugee students, and children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
- Familiarity with national and international safeguarding and child protection standards, including CAPSEAH and digital safeguarding issues.
- Strong understanding of gender, disability, and social inclusion principles within educational and youth-focused programmes.
