Job Description and Strategic Impact

The Project Assistant for the “Building Regional Capacity Amidst Aid Shifts: Technical Assistance” (BRCAAS) project plays a vital role in the programmatic and operational success of this initiative. This position provides essential technical support to ensure that the project’s goals in health financing and system strengthening are met across target regions. The Assistant works closely with the Project Coordinator to facilitate the smooth day-to-day implementation of planned interventions.

The strategic importance of this role lies in its capacity to maintain momentum across various regional activities. By tracking progress against work plans and flagging potential delays, the Project Assistant ensures that Amref remains a reliable partner to Regional Bureaus of Health and Finance. This role acts as the operational glue, coordinating the logistics, communication, and documentation necessary for high-level workshops and stakeholder forums.

In this position, you will have a direct impact on the efficiency of health system interventions. Your work in collecting and organizing project data is crucial for monitoring progress and generating the reports that inform donor requirements and future strategic planning. By documenting lessons learned and best practices, you contribute to a knowledge management system that improves health outcomes across the region.

Job Positions and Requirements
  1. Project Assistant – BRCAAS

Educational Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Health Economics, Health Services Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

Work Experience: A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in project implementation, coordination, or support roles. This experience should ideally be gained within NGO or government settings.

Job Location: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Salary: Competitive and based on the organization’s professional scale.

Candidates must demonstrate a good understanding of health systems strengthening and public health programs. Strong organizational and coordination skills are essential, as the role requires managing multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are mandatory for effective stakeholder engagement. You must be able to maintain regular communication with Regional Bureaus and coordinate effectively with diverse teams.

Proficiency in MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is required for report writing and data management. Experience in supporting trainings, workshops, and high-level stakeholder coordination is highly valued.

Previous experience working with Regional Health Bureaus or similar government stakeholders is considered a strong asset for this role. Exposure to donor-funded project reporting requirements is also highly desirable.

The successful applicant will be responsible for the accurate documentation of meeting minutes, action points, and project records, ensuring that all filings are in line with Amref’s established procedures.
