Job Description
Plan International Ethiopia is seeking a qualified CPiE and GBV Officer for its operations in Gambella.

This position focuses on providing comprehensive technical support for the implementation of child protection and gender-based violence programs within the Program Area and refugee camp settings.

The role plays a critical part in strengthening systems that protect children, adolescents, and vulnerable groups from abuse, violence, neglect, and harmful traditional practices.

The officer will work closely with emergency response teams and maintain strong coordination with initiatives addressing harmful traditional practices (HTP), including early marriage prevention programs.

The position holder will ensure that all child protection interventions align with agreed project plans, humanitarian standards, and donor requirements.

A major part of the role involves supporting the implementation of Child Protection in Emergencies (CPiE) and GBV response programming in crisis and recovery contexts.

The officer will contribute to strengthening community-based protection mechanisms and promoting positive social norms that prevent violence against children and women.

This role offers excellent exposure to humanitarian programming, protection case management, refugee response systems, and multi-sector emergency coordination.

Educational Qualification
Applicants must hold a BA degree in one of the following fields:

  • Sociology
  • Social Work
  • Psychology
  • Child Development

Candidates with academic backgrounds in humanitarian response, child rights, or protection programming are strongly encouraged to apply.

Work Experience
A minimum of 3 years of humanitarian aid experience is required.

Applicants must have practical experience in emergency and recovery response operations, particularly in:

  • Child Protection
  • Youth programs
  • Gender-Based Violence (GBV) interventions
  • Protection case management

Experience working in refugee camps, conflict-affected areas, or humanitarian settings is highly desirable.

Required Skills and Competencies
Candidates should demonstrate strong technical and professional competencies in the following areas:

  • Excellent knowledge of Child Protection and GBV minimum standards
  • Strong understanding of case management principles
  • Experience with CPIMS (Child Protection Information Management System)
  • Good knowledge of MHPSS (Mental Health and Psychosocial Support)
  • Strong understanding of Child Friendly Spaces (CFS)
  • Good knowledge of child and adult development principles
  • Familiarity with donor regulations, especially ECHO and UN agencies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong proposal writing and report writing skills
  • Stakeholder coordination and training facilitation skills
  • Ability to work effectively in high-pressure emergency environments

Fluency in English and local language skills is required.

Professionals with strong field coordination and community engagement skills will be highly competitive.
