University of Twente Scholarship (UTS)

The University of Twente Scholarship (UTS) offers outstanding students from non-EU/EEA countries the opportunity to pursue a Master’s degree at the University of Twente in the Netherlands. This scholarship recognizes academic excellence and potential for future leadership.
Scholarship Value
€3,000 – €22,000 for one year. For two-year programmes, students may receive an additional scholarship for the second year, provided they meet the progress requirements. The scholarship is intended to help cover study-related expenses and will not be paid directly toward tuition fees.
Two-Year Programme Continuation Criteria
To receive funding for the second year, students must achieve:
• An average grade of at least 7/10 at the end of the third quartile of the first year
• Completion of at least 50% of European Credits (ECs) by the same period
Additional Scholarship Opportunity
Recipients of the UTS may also qualify for the Kipaji Scholarship, available to exceptional students applying for September 2026 programmes. Applicants should indicate interest in the Kipaji Scholarship within their motivation letter.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
• Be a citizen of a non-EU/EEA country
• Hold (or be provisionally admitted to) an eligible UT Master’s programme for 2026/2027
• Have a valid student number
• Not have graduated from a UT undergraduate programme
• Meet visa requirements for the Netherlands
• Fulfill English language requirements: IELTS 6.5 (with 6.0 minimum in speaking) or TOEFL iBT 90 (with 20 in speaking)
• Belong to the top 5–10% of their graduating class
• Be able to fund remaining study and living costs independently
Ineligible Applicants
UTS is not available for:
• Dutch or EU/EEA students
• Current UT students
• Pre-Master’s students or those studying at the Faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC)
• Students paying statutory tuition fees

Note: Applicants rejected in Round 1 cannot reapply in Round 2.
