Job Summary
The Zonal Project Coordinator, in coordination with the health and nutrition specialist, provides overall technical leadership, guidance, and quality assurance for CGPP health initiatives. The focus is on communicable disease control, including polio eradication, routine immunization, and outbreak response. The role ensures alignment with national health strategies, government priorities, and donor requirements.
The coordinator oversees project implementation across woredas in the Asossa zone, strengthens field staff capacity, ensures timely and quality results, coordinates with stakeholders, and promotes community engagement to improve immunization coverage and health outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Project Implementation & Coordination
Plan, implement, and oversee CGPP activities, including immunization campaigns, polio SIAs, disease surveillance, and outbreak preparedness
Coordinate with field staff, government health offices, and community volunteers for timely delivery
Supervise and support field teams to meet project targets and adhere to protocols
Ensure activities align with national health priorities and donor requirements
Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting
Conduct field visits to monitor immunization and surveillance activities
Collect, analyze, and validate community and health facility data
Ensure timely and accurate reporting to CGPP, government partners, and donors
Capacity Building & Technical Support
Strengthen technical capacity of health workers, volunteers, and mobilizers through mentorship and training
Ensure adherence to global and national immunization, surveillance, and community engagement standards
Share best practices and lessons learned to improve program quality
Community Engagement & Social Mobilization
Promote awareness and participation in immunization campaigns and preventive health measures
Strengthen partnerships with community leaders and volunteers to enhance ownership and sustainability
Support strategies to address vaccine hesitancy and reach underserved populations
Coordination & Partnership
Collaborate with government health offices at woreda, zonal, and regional levels
Participate in Health and Nutrition Cluster meetings and inter-agency forums
Work with donors, UN agencies, NGOs, and community partners for harmonized emergency responses
Job Requirements
BSc/MPH Degree in Public Health, Nursing, Midwifery, Epidemiology, Global Health, Community Health, RH, Health Service Management, Health Systems, or related field
Minimum 6 years of progressive experience in public health program management, with at least 3 years in managerial or technical leadership within an international NGO or UN agency
Proven experience managing immunization, polio eradication, or communicable disease surveillance programs
Experience coordinating with government offices, partners, and community structures

Strong MEAL skills for evidence-based improvement
Ability to lead, coach, and motivate multidisciplinary teams and partners
Proficiency in data analysis, reporting, and presenting findings
Travel Requirement
Frequent travel to project sites within the country or abroad
Language
Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages is advantageous
