About the Role
The Technical Assistant/Officer provides technical, coordination, and operational support to ensure effective implementation of RECAP project activities. The role supports planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting, while ensuring alignment with approved workplans, quality standards, and donor requirements.

Project Background
Resilient Borders: Advancing Climate Adaptation, Peace, Livelihoods, and Preparedness in Cross-Border Communities of Ethiopia and Kenya (RECAP) is a three-year project implemented in Miyo and Moyale in Ethiopia and Sololo and Moyale in Kenya. The project addresses climate change, conflict, fragile livelihoods, and disaster risks in cross-border communities.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Support and Implementation
Support implementation of project activities related to climate adaptation, peacebuilding, livelihoods, and disaster risk reduction in collaboration with the Technical Coordinator.
Assist in preparing activity designs, guidelines, tools, and training materials.
Provide technical support during community interventions, trainings, dialogues, and cross-border engagements.
Support integration of conflict sensitivity, gender equality, youth inclusion, and climate-smart approaches across activities.

Coordination and Field Support
Coordinate with field teams, partners, communities, and government stakeholders to support smooth implementation.
Support cross-border coordination meetings, joint planning sessions, and learning exchanges.
Assist in organizing workshops, trainings, community dialogues, and stakeholder meetings.
Support data collection, verification, and basic analysis, ensuring data quality and timely reporting.
Contribute to monthly, quarterly, and annual technical reports.
Maintain organized records of technical documents, reports, attendance sheets, and lessons learned.
Support preparation of case studies, briefs, and knowledge products.

Partnership and Stakeholder Engagement
Support engagement with local NGOs, CBOs, community leaders, and government institutions.
Assist in strengthening partnerships related to climate resilience, peacebuilding, and livelihoods.
Ensure project activities comply with organisational policies, donor requirements, and safeguarding standards.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Development Studies, Peace and Conflict Studies, Project Management, Agriculture, Economics, or a related field. Practical experience in INGO project assistance, particularly in peacebuilding, livelihoods, or DRR, is an advantage.

Experience and Skills
Experience working in cross-border, pastoralist, or fragile and conflict-affected settings preferred.
Strong organisational and coordination skills.
Basic understanding of project cycle management and results-based approaches.
Ability to collect, organise, and summarise field data.
Strong communication and community engagement skills.
Ability to work in multicultural and cross-border environments.
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Language Requirements
Fluency in English is required.
Knowledge of Afan Oromo and local community context is highly desirable.
