About the Role
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is seeking a qualified and dynamic professional to serve as Team Leader for Democratic Governance and Peacebuilding (DGPB) in Ethiopia. This position plays a key role in advancing UNDP’s governance and peacebuilding agenda, supporting institutional reforms, inclusive governance, and social cohesion across the country.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate UNDP Ethiopia’s strategies in governance and peacebuilding from formulation to implementation and reporting.
- Provide policy analysis and technical advisory services to government and non-governmental partners.
- Support strategic partnerships, donor coordination, and resource mobilization efforts.
- Facilitate effective communication, knowledge sharing, and capacity development among partners.
- Supervise and guide the DGPB team, ensuring quality assurance and compliance with UNDP standards.
Education and Experience
- Master’s degree in Governance Studies, Law, Political Science, Sociology, Public Policy, Peace and Security Studies, or related field.
- Minimum of 7 years (with Master’s) or 9 years (with Bachelor’s) of experience in democratic governance, peacebuilding, or public sector reform.
- Proven experience in project management, policy advisory, and working with high-level government counterparts.
- Strong understanding of Ethiopia’s political and social context.
Languages
- Excellent command of English (spoken and written) required.
- Fluency in local language preferred.
