About the Organization
SOS Sahel Ethiopia is a distinguished national non-governmental organization with over 30 years of dedicated service in Ethiopia. Registered as an independent national NGO in 2005, the agency has built an extensive legacy of working alongside rural communities and the Ethiopian government to address the root causes of poverty. Our primary focus lies in supporting smallholder farmers and marginalized pastoralist populations through Sustainable Natural Resources Management and Value Chain Development.
The organization’s mission is to improve the living standards of rural communities by enhancing their environment management and providing better access to fair, sustainable agricultural markets. We are driven by a vision to eliminate food insecurity while ensuring long-term environmental sustainability across the Ethiopian landscape. Our decades of experience have allowed us to become a trusted partner in driving systemic change for marginalized groups.
At SOS Sahel Ethiopia, we believe that sustainable development is only possible through a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion. We prioritize reaching the most vulnerable, including women, youth, and pastoralists, ensuring they are active participants in the development process. Our institutional values emphasize integrity, local empowerment, and the integration of traditional knowledge with modern scientific approaches.
We contribute to the industry by designing and implementing scalable models for sustainable trade and climate-resilient livelihoods. Our work bridges the gap between local production and global market requirements, ensuring that Ethiopia’s agricultural and forest-based commodities meet international standards. This commitment to excellence ensures that our interventions lead to lasting, positive impacts on both people and the planet.
SOS Sahel Ethiopia is an equal opportunity employer that values a diverse workforce to better serve our diverse communities. We explicitly encourage women and candidates from underrepresented groups to apply for these positions. We are committed to providing a professional environment where all employees can grow and contribute to our mission of environmental and social transformation.
