Job Description
The Senior Teacher Education and Community Engagement Specialist will provide strategic and technical leadership in the design and delivery of Learning through Play (LtP) approaches.
This role focuses on improving education outcomes for children in refugee and host community contexts through inclusive and culturally responsive learning methods.
The specialist will lead the development, adaptation, and localization of play-based learning content and training tools.
The role ensures that all learning materials are pedagogically sound, evidence-based, and aligned with international best practices.
The position supports teachers, caregivers, and community members to strengthen child-centered learning approaches.
The specialist will also support quality assurance, testing, and continuous improvement of training materials.
This role contributes directly to improved learning environments, child well-being, and community resilience.
The position offers strong professional growth through leadership responsibilities, regional collaboration, and technical innovation.
Educational Qualification
Applicants must hold a BA or MA degree in Education, Curriculum Development, or a related field from an accredited university.
Additional professional training in education in emergencies or play-based learning is an advantage.
Work Experience
Applicants must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in content or curriculum development, adaptation, testing, and training.
At least 3 of these years must be at BA level or equivalent professional responsibility.
Experience in education in emergencies, humanitarian, or development settings is highly desirable.
Required Skills and Competencies
Proven ability to develop and deliver high-quality educational and training content.
Strong facilitation, mentoring, and presentation skills.
Demonstrated experience integrating education in emergencies and play-based learning approaches such as Teaching at the Right Level.
Proven experience promoting disability inclusion and adapting learning for diverse needs.
Experience working with government education systems and humanitarian coordination mechanisms.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and within cross-functional global teams.
High level of professionalism, integrity, and accountability.
Fluency in English and Amharic; knowledge of local languages is an advantage.
Job Location
The duty station is Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, at the Country Office.
The role may require collaboration with regional and field-based teams.
Employment Type and Salary
This is a three-month contract with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding.
The role is full-time and reports to the Team Leader.
Salary and benefits will be provided in accordance with Plan International’s compensation policies.
