Job Description
The Senior Supply Chain Officer (SSCO) in Assosa Field Office plays a critical role in ensuring the effective and efficient management of all supply chain operations. The position reports directly to the Field Coordinator, with technical support from the Deputy Director of Supply Chain in Addis Ababa.

The SSCO will lead the Supply Chain team and manage procurement, inventory, warehouse operations, fleet management, and IT systems related to supply chain functions. The role ensures compliance with IRC policies, donor regulations, and local legal requirements while promoting transparency, integrity, and efficiency in all operations.

The position has a direct impact on program success, supporting field operations by ensuring that essential goods, services, and vehicles are available and well-managed. The SSCO will also mentor and train staff, promote professional development, and build strong collaboration between program, operations, and finance teams.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and supervising Supply Chain staff including procurement, warehouse, and asset management personnel.
  • Ensuring proper procurement planning, vendor engagement, market assessment, and documentation.
  • Managing inventory and warehouse operations following IRC policies and standard procedures.
  • Coordinating fleet management, vehicle maintenance, and fuel usage across field office locations.
  • Supporting IT system management and coordinating with the central IT team in Addis.
  • Organizing staff training, performance reviews, and professional development plans.
  • Facilitating smooth collaboration between field office teams and HQ technical units.
  • Promoting compliance, safeguarding, and ethical conduct in all supply chain operations.
  • Conducting field visits to projects and camps to monitor supply chain operations and provide technical guidance.
  • Preparing reports, analyses, and recommendations for senior management and stakeholders.

Educational Qualification

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Accounting, Economics, Business Management, or a related field.
  • Master’s Degree holders are preferred and require at least 1 year of relevant work experience.

Work Experience

  • BA Degree holders: minimum of 2 years of experience in supply chain management or related fields.
  • Proven experience managing multi-disciplinary teams in field settings.
  • Experience in procurement, warehouse operations, fleet management, and project support.
  • Prior experience in humanitarian organizations or INGOs is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with working in emergency response or complex operational environments is an advantage.
