Job Description
The Senior Project Officer II – Poultry Agribusiness will play a key role in supporting the development of poultry value chains in Ethiopia. The position focuses on strengthening poultry production, agribusiness development, and commercialization efforts within the livestock sector.
The officer will provide technical guidance and project management support for poultry commercialization initiatives, including both egg and meat production systems. The role involves coordinating activities related to poultry production, processing, marketing, and service delivery.
The selected candidate will actively contribute to planning and implementing poultry agribusiness programs aimed at improving productivity, increasing farmers’ incomes, and strengthening market linkages. These initiatives are part of the broader Livestock Commercialization Program.
The position also involves supporting forage value chain development activities. This includes assisting in forage production planning, processing technologies, and market development to support livestock productivity.
The Senior Project Officer will work closely with regional stakeholders, including farmers, agribusiness enterprises, development partners, and government institutions, to ensure successful project implementation.
A key responsibility will be providing advisory services and mentorship to value chain actors. This includes supporting small enterprises, cooperatives, and farmers involved in poultry production and marketing.
The officer will coordinate the implementation of poultry and forage commercialization activities and ensure alignment with program objectives and strategic priorities.
The role also requires monitoring project progress, evaluating results, and preparing high-quality reports for internal teams and external partners.

Educational Qualification
Applicants must hold at least a Master’s degree in a relevant field.
Acceptable fields of study include Animal Production, Animal Science, Poultry Science, Poultry Production, Poultry Agribusiness, or other closely related agricultural disciplines.
Candidates with strong academic backgrounds and practical knowledge of livestock value chain development will be highly competitive.
Educational qualifications should demonstrate a clear understanding of agricultural production systems, agribusiness development, and rural economic transformation.
Work Experience
Applicants must have a minimum of eight years of professional experience related to poultry value chain development or poultry agribusiness.
Experience should include working with poultry production systems such as layer and broiler operations.
Candidates should demonstrate experience in implementing agricultural development projects, supporting agribusiness initiatives, or strengthening livestock value chains.
Previous experience in project management, stakeholder coordination, and technical advisory roles will be considered an advantage.
Experience working with farmers, cooperatives, private sector actors, or development programs within Ethiopia’s agricultural sector is highly desirable.

Job Location
The position will be based in Mekelle and Hawassa, Ethiopia.
Two positions are available, with one position allocated to each duty station.
